When a Facade is more than a Facade
Ngāmotu House, the stunning newly refurbished building on Devon Street in New Plymouth, is truly a work of art.
Rivet Ltd, now Rivet Innovate Ltd, were honoured to be the subcontractors bringing the exterior Korowai facade to life on behalf of Te Kotahitanga o Te Atiawa, Ngāti Te Whiti, Boon Architects and the contractor.
“We were engaged to site measure, develop detailed drawings, fabricate and install the exterior,” says Steve Scott, Rivet managing director.
“Being an older building, it was a very involved project from a technical perspective. We needed to create visual symmetry while designing tolerance into our plans to make adjustments for the irregularities in the actual measurements of the building.
“The result is a stunning powder coated aluminium finish.”
The collaborative team approach to these projects is critical to achieving the perfect visual result for the contractor’s client, Steve says.
Rivet was also responsible for the Len Lye Centre’s waved exterior as well as the new Te Huhi Raupo – Taranaki Renal Unit exterior art installation.
“Seeing our community shine a little brighter is the real reward in a project like this.”
